Fortnite’s ‘The Device’ Doomsday event: When is it, where is it and what to expect
Chapter two, season two of the hit battle royale game is about to come to an end
Fortnite is set to launch a new season with a Doomsday event set to go live later today.
Chapter two, season two will conclude with a mysterious event called “The Device”, which many predict will accompany a significant overhaul of the in-game map.
The current season of the hit battle royale game has been themed around espionage, but has been criticised by some for a lack of new weapons and features.
Here’s everything you need to know about “The Device” ...
When is “The Device” live event taking place?
Fortnite has confirmed that the event will be happening today (15 June) at 7pm BST.
Epic Games advise that players try and log in around half an hour before the event starts to make sure they don’t miss it.
Players will also be able to watch the event be livestreamed on services like Twitch.
What will happen in the live event?
Although the event is still shrouded in mystery, the event’s title gives players some small indication of what to expect – and it could be explosive.
Many Fortnite players have speculated that there will be an explosion which alters the layout of the map, perhaps flooding it with water.
On Twitter, the official Fortnite account posted the cryptic message: “The clock is ticking, his plan is in place, can the Storm be Broken?”
In another post, it wrote: The Storm rages on. “Will Midas’ Machine break the Storm? The Device is set to be activated on June 15 at 2PM ET. Space is limited! Show up 30 minutes early to help secure your spot and be there live.”
Where will the event take place?
At the moment, the “doomsday device” – which looks like a mysterious glowing orb - is located in Midas’s room at the Agency HQ.
Because of this, many have assumed that the event will be focused on the Agency HQ, so players are advised to position themselves with a good view of the location.
When will the next season of the game go live?
After the event goes live, the current season of Fornite will come to an end tomorrow (Tuesday 16 June).
The next season of the game will then begin on Wednesday (17 June).
