What would games producers do without the narrative opportunities of nuclear apocalypse?

From wrecked landscapes peppered with poisoned pools to armies of super-mutants, the pickings are rich. The creators of Fallout 3 make good use of a post-apocalyptic plotline and their imagining of a ruined society is the best I’ve seen so far. The open world in which the action is set is stunningly realised and frightening real. Survival is everything, and to this end, expect top-notch combat and an arsenal that is second-to-none.
