The first Overlord title was a rare thing indeed – a funny, self-aware fantasy game that was a joy to play. So Overlord 2 has a lot to live up to, but, thanks to some genuinely amusing moments and the sheer joy of playing a really bad guy with hordes of minions at your disposal, it’s all good. The makers have had fun with the fact that the main character is an Overlord-in-waiting – the teenage offspring of the original OL. The nuts and bolts are in good working order – helpful maps, reasonably taxing puzzles, plenty of new fools around every corner ready to do your bidding – and the surreal touches (bloodthirsty pandas, stacked mermaids) are excellent additions.
