Games Review: Resident Evil 5

PS3, Xbox, 360, Capcom, £44.99

For the latest instalment of the Resident Evil

saga, Capcom has reimagined its special

brand of survival horror. Tracing the origins

of the virus that has proved so fertile as an

inspiration for the series, RE5 is refreshingly

different but unlike its predecessors, and

despite the tentacles, violent urges and

bleeding eyes of your foes, not very scary.

However, what it lacks in short, sharp shocks,

it makes up for in a new co-op mode and

varied gameplay that sees players switching

from tiptoeing through silent tunnels then

gunning down the undead to tackling tricky

problems in seconds.
