After a 12-year absence, the biggest-selling realtime strategy game ever makes a welcome return. StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty, the first release of a planned trilogy, focuses on aTerran, Jim Raynor, as he vies to protect humanity from both itself and the Zerg, a hive-mind race of alien invaders. Raynor’s story is beautifully told over 29 missions, each bursting with imagination, while well-honed unit balancing guarantees tense battles. StarCraft 2 shines as bright online thanks to the smooth multiplayer matchmaker Battle.net, which eases the player into the fray. Outstanding.
