Games Review: Summer Athletics 2009
PC, Wii, Xbox, Ubisoft, £19.99-£29.99
Running, jumping, firing arrows into targets, Summer Athletics 2009 ostensibly has plenty to keep the indoor sportsman happy. But despite a solid roster of activities – 28 events in all – this title picks a rocky path between casual fun and serious sports sim, failing to convince at either discipline. Amajor flaw is the control system, particularlywhen using the Wiimote, which asks little more of players other than to bash the hell out of their buttons, something that may having been charming when Track and Fieldwas cutting edge, but doesn’t cut the mustard now.
