Wipeoutwas the futuristic racing title that helped launch PlayStation almost 15 years ago with whizzbang graphics and spaceage craft hurtling around a gravity-defying track to the beat of hi-energy dance tunes. Its latest outing is Fury, the first WipeoutHD expansion pack, available on the PlayStation Network. Now, expansion packs aren’t usually something to get terribly excited about and, indeed, Fury’s creators have cheekily recycled some PSPtracks to make up 12 “new” levels. However, three new gameplay modes – ZoneBattle, Detonator and Eliminator –make Fury feel and play in a fresh new way that’s impressive for a title that is nearly a decade-and-ahalf old.
