Games Review: Wolfenstein
PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Activision, £39.99-£49.99
Dying for a dose of spooky shenanigans andsome Nazis to strafe? Well, the moonis in the correct alignment for a return to castle Wolfenstein. Wolfenstein has had numerous incarnations over the years since it burst on to the Apple II in 1981, creating a newgenre of stealth and shooting games. This year’s take on the game is as graphically slick and gruesomely gory as you’d expect, but unlike previous Wolfenstein releases, this gives the supernatural a lotmore scope with the addition of the Veil, an alternative reality where players gain new superhumanpowers to do battle with Hitler’s haunted henchmen. With three multiplayer modes and eight maps, there’s more cooperative play on offer than ever before.
