The fourth generation of the DS family is one hell of a big baby. With its 4.2in screens and impressive heft, the DSi XL bucks the usual tech trend for creating ever-smaller hardware in favour of a console that hasmore clout. It boasts the same functions at the DSi and is loaded with two titles – and these (Brain Training and a dictionary) plus the colourways (wine red and chocolate brown) indicate that the DSi XL is designed for an older consumer. The big screens make text-based gaming easier on the eyes and controls more precise.
