When Gareth Bale left for Real Madrid, it wasn't only Tottenham fans dismayed by the £86m switch.

The makers of Fifa 14 had made the Welshman their poster boy for the launch of the new game, but while Bale will still play in white, they couldn't exactly put out a load of copies featuring Bale wearing a Spurs shirt.

However, EA Sports appear to have rectified the problem with Bale tweeting an image of the re-designed cover.

The new version features Bale wearing the white of Real Madrid alongside Lionel Messi in a Barcelona shirt.

The 24-year-old wrote: New club... new @EASPORTSFIFA cover! #halamadrid #FIFA14UKcover #ad

An advert for the football simulation game also recently aired (below), featuring an in-game clip of Bale scoring a free-kick for his new team.

Previous players to have adorned the Fifa series include Wayne Rooney, Kaka and Ronaldinho and is seen as an indication of the best and most popular players of the moment.

"The players on the front cover since I was a kid have obviously been legends of the game," said Bale after it was originally announced he would appear on covers in the UK, Ireland and the Middle Easy. "It's a great honor for me and I'm very proud of it."

The game is released September 27.
