Nintendo has announced that it will use its next European edition of Nintendo Direct to preview its latest console, Wii U. The Nintendo Direct Wii U Preview will be streamed from the Nintendo Direct website on 13th September from 3pm (UK time), where Nintendo of Europe President Satoru Shibata will take a ‘closer look’ at the upcoming Wii U console.

The announcement’s timing is perfectly in synch with a similar American event, due to be hosted by Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, in New York where it is rumoured the price, launch date and perhaps even graphical horsepower of the new console are set to finally be unveiled.

The clever money seems to be on a launch date of 18th November, with rumoured prices fluctuating around the £200-£300 mark, though so far all we have to go off is the official party line that ‘the Wii U console launches this holiday season.’

The Wii U is Nintendo’s home console successor to the highly popular Wii console; Wii U is set to feature a control pad with integrated 6.2″ touchscreen known as the Wii U GamePad, which Nintendo are hoping ‘redefines how people interact with their games, their entertainment and one another.’
