Nintendo has revealed new details about Super Smash Bros for Switch, the much anticipated game coming later this year.

During one of its Nintendo Direct live broadcasts, developers showed off a whole host of new characters, stages, modes and music. And it even announced a new controller – a Gamecube themed accessory that will be available for the Switch.

The game will be available for Switch on 7 December, and can be pre-ordered now. Fans who order the limited edition of the game now will get the Gamecube controller and adapter as well as the game itself.

Chief among the new announcements was that there will be a whole host of characters and stages available from the Castlevania series. Players will be able to play as character Simon Belmont for instance, and in the haunted castle from the game – meeting villains including Dracula himself.

Nintendo also revealed a host of new stages in the game, taking the total to 103, by far the most of any Super Smash Bros game. Most of the stages will be updated versions of existing stages from the game – but there will be new ones, including Dracula's castle and New Donk City Hall from Super Mario Odyssey.

And Nintendo also announced new game modes, including a tourney mode that will allow up to 32 people to play together. And it will have an improved training mode to allow people to learn more about how to actually play the game.
