A YouTube app could be about to arrive on the Nintendo Switch, according to a series of leaks.

Players have long been hoping for some way of streaming videos including YouTube onto the portable console, but have been mostly frustrated.

Now a listing has been spotted that suggests Google's video app could finally be arriving on or around 8 November.

Despite the fact that the Switch seems like it has everything to be a little portable streaming box – a screen and an internet connection, as well as the ability to plug it into an external display such as a TV – services have seemed reticent about coming to the console.

Hulu, the American streaming service, does have its own app for the Nintendo Switch, which launched almost exactly a year ago.

But gamers have been asking for other services, such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, to finally come to the Switch. None of the companies involved have suggested that such an app cold be coming any time soon.

The listing for the YouTube app was first spotted on the Nintendo of America website, in a list of recommended apps. It was not available to download, and has since been removed, but while up a message seemed to suggest that it could become available on 8 November.
