Nominations for the annual JustGiving Awards are now open, and now is your chance to make your vote count and celebrate someone who makes life better for others.

For the past nine years, The Independent has shone a light on the kindness and generosity of Britain's unsung heroes with its annual Happy List. For the past two years we have partnered with the social giving platform JustGiving, and their annual Awards are a special opportunity to praise those who truly deserve it.

The JustGiving Awards will take place on 21st November, but you can cast your vote from the short list found here.

This year was a record-breaking one for the JustGiving Awards. Almost 31,000 people got in touch with the organisation to tell them about the amazing fundraisers they think deserve an award. The short list includes one man who featured on the Independent's Happy List earlier this year. Gary McKee from Cleator Moor in Cumbria ran 100 marathons in 100 days, and is one of three people who you can choose from in JustGiving's Endurance Fundraiser of the Year category.

Given the terrible events of the past six months, it's arguably more important than ever to celebrate goodness and recognise those who work so hard with no thought of personal gain.
