OMG!!! It's totally that guy from Glee!

Control yourself. Teenage girls everywhere will be overcome with excitement to hear that actor Darren Criss – better known as Blaine Anderson, lead singer of The Warblers, to Glee fans – is set to make his Broadway debut. He'll be taking over from Daniel Radcliffe in the hit musical How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying.

That. Is. Totally. Amazing!

Good grief. You're right, though, it is quite a turn of events for 24-year-old Criss. He first found fame thanks to his musical take on another celebrated Radcliffe role: Harry Potter.

Before he joined the cast of Glee in 2010 he was better known for A Very Potter Musical, a comic retelling of JK Rowling's novels that he and drama-student friends staged at the University of Michigan. It featured the immortal lyrics "I'm sick of my struggles/ With all these muggles," with songs including "Goin' Back to Hogwarts" and "Voldemort is Goin' Down". The show became a YouTube hit, picking up millions of views and helping to propel Criss into the cast of Glee, and now, to Broadway.

I'm going to fly to New York and get tickets! When is the opening night?

It's on 3 January. Criss will be taking on the role of J Pierrepont Finch in the new Broadway version of Frank Loesser's 1961 musical, following Radcliffe's final performance on 1 January.

And what about the real Harry, what's he up to?

Having hung up his invisibility cloak for the final time in last month's $1bn-grossing Harry Potter finale, star Daniel Radcliffe will return to the big screen in the film version of long-running stage horror The Woman in Black
