The Girl, Alice in Wonderland, EastEnders, That Dog Can Dance!
The Girl, Alice in Wonderland, EastEnders, That Dog Can Dance!

Kids will be enchanted by Tim Burton’s dark take on Alice in Wonderland at 6.50pm on BBC1. And who could resist Simon Cowell’s X Factor-style animal talent show That Dog Can Dance! At 8pm on ITV1?

The more serious among you might like to decide between dippy comedienne or cool blonde?9pm brings the return of Miranda (where our heroine contends with a diet and a new job) and Sienna Miller and Toby Jones as Tippi Hedren and Alfred Hitchcock in BBC2 film The Girl. Personally I’d save the former for an iPlayer moment during the January Blues.

You can set a Hitchcock trend for the evening by watching Rebecca at 10pm, his 1940 interpretation of Daphne Du Maurier’s dark tale.

Comedy lovers should check out a double-length Spy on Sky1 at 8pm. Meanwhile Stephen Fry and Douglas Henshall star in art-heist drama Doors Open at 9pm on ITV1.

It’s a film fest on Channel 4 with The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers at 6.55pm and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at 10.30pm.

But if its some serious drama you're after, see what horrors are in store for the Brannings in EastEnders at 8.30pm.
