Katharine Hamnett, the most famous of statement T-shirt sloganeers - Choose Life, Stay Alive in '85 (anti-heroin), Education not Missiles, Clean Air, 58% don't want Pershing, and Sanction China - is at it again. She has turned her hand to a range of three T-shirts for Amnesty International. It is the first time AI have enlisted the help of a celebrity designer and Hamnett was the logical choice.

The Amnesty team braved drizzle and mud at the Phoenix Festival near Stratford-upon-Avon last week where they staged a series of events to support their global campaign "Respect Refugees!". Among them was a shoot by photographer Pat Pope of all the artists involved in Phoenix, including Black Grape, Skunk Anansie, Jamiroquai, and David Bowie wearing the T- shirts, and the photographs will be on show later this year at a central London gallery.

"Saving Skins" is the new slogan dreamt up by Hamnett, and Skin from Skunk Anansie has proudly been modelling her T-shirt for weeks. Other designs include a blue hologram heart, and a straight-forward AI reflective logo T-shirt. Each comes in three colours - white, pale blue and navy and in two sizes - 34 and 36n

Orders should be sent to Amnesty International, PO Box 432, Camberley, GU15 3ZA. To order a catalogue call 01276 688 260, or by fax 01276 676 136. For inquiries call 01276 688 261.
