Wednesday's selection: in North America, the Chicago Auto Show kicks off, so does the Microsoft Gamefest in Seattle. In Europe, Mr. Gay world finals start while an Arshile Gorky retrospective opens in London, among other events.

The Chicago Auto Show spans 1.2 million square feet (more than 100 000 square meters) of space and displays over 1000 vehicles. With more space than is available at other events, manufacturers stage large exhibits here, such as test tracks and even rock concerts. This year will be the 102nd edition, making it the oldest show in the world.

Gay World Ambassador

February 10-14
Oslo, Norway

While the Mr. Gay competition was eventually canceled in China last January, the other most beautiful gay males of the world were selected in their home countries. The finalists will all compete in Norway, and the laureate will be crowned on Valentine's Day.

Arshile Gorky retrospective
February 10 - May 3

Previously seen in Philadelphia, Arshile Gorky: A Retrospective is on view in London before Los Angeles later in 2010. On par with Rothko, Pollock and de Kooning, Gorky's works had a major impact on 20th century art as he was a forerunner of Absrtact Expressionism in the USA. The retrospective covers 25 years of career of this American artist born in Armenia who lived between 1904 and 1948.

Microsoft Gamefest

February 10-11

A conference and workshop for XNA developers, those interested and involved in making games for the Xbox 360's online marketplace, which will feature the latest technical details for the new Project Natal motion sensor device.
