The King of the King’s Road reigns again this spring as a collection of photographs celebrating Ossie Clark goes on display in London.

The photographic prints feature some recognisable faces from the swinging sixties, including fashion icon Twiggy and friend David Hockney- who Clark first met when the two were at art school together.

Combining pop art with surrealism in his prints, Clark was well known for his use of muted colours and paper fabric to produce free-moving clothes. The fashion press called him “The King of King’s Road” and his clients numbered Mick Jagger, The Beatles, Marianne Faithfull and Liza Minnelli.

The exhibition on show is at Proud gallery in Chelsea, a stone's throw away from where Clark presented his first fashion show at Chelsea Town Hall in 1967. Clark’s vintage gowns and design sketches are also on display next to the photographic prints.
