International Green Week

The annual International Green Week in Berlin, the world's largest food, agricultural and horticultural fair, will welcome Hungary as its official partner country in 2010 for the 75th edition. Besides Germany and Hungary, 54 countries will participate as exhibitors. Russia will be the largest foreign exhibitor, with 6,000 square meters of floor space.

Celtic Connections

More than 100,000 visitors celebrate the annual Celtic Connections festival, which features a mix of traditional Scottish music and international artists. From January 14 to 31, the 17th annual festival will include approximately 300 events in 14 venues across Glasgow. Acts include Bobby McFerrin, Carlos Núñez, Cherish the Ladies, Natalie Merchant, and The Chieftains performing with Ry Cooder, plus additional artists from Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, India, Africa, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Norway, Corsica, Serbia, Romania, Canada, and the USA. "Impressionism: a modern renaissance," Musée d'Orsay on tour

Due to renovation works at the Musée d'Orsay, the Paris institution exports parts of its collections for a few months to the MAPFRE foundation in Madrid for the exhibition Impressionism: a modern renaissance. This exhibition features the beginnings of impressionism and its various forms and tries to give a global outlook on the movement between 1860 and 1880 with Edouard Manet opening and closing the overview.

The 19th Annual International Los Angeles Photographic Art Exhibition will take place at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in California in January. Famed photographer David LaChapelle and actor Chris Lowell will host the opening night reception. The event will include multiple lectures and discussions about international photography whilst photographic experts will run additional lectures and seminars. A preview installation of the upcoming exhibition, Changing the Focus: Latin American Photography (1990 – 2005) that will be held in LA’s Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) will be shown at the event along with a long list of iconic photos taken by American and international photographers.

City Festival 2010

Hong Kong's first major arts gathering of the year has a focus on the city's near neighbors from Guangzhou, with exhibitions as well as live shows plucked from the southern Chinese city's flourishing artistic scene. Other highlights of the near-month long program include a Big Band Festival and the debut performance from the groundbreaking Bare Stage Dance Project.
