Justin Timberlake knocks David Bowie off top of UK album chart

Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience becomes fastest selling album of 2013

Justin Timberlake’s album The 20/20 Experience has knocked David Bowie’s The Next Day off the top of the UK album chart.

The 20/20 Experience sold 106,000 copies last week, outselling the other top five albums combined, to become the fastest selling album of 2013 according to the Official Charts Company.

The album marks Timberlake’s return to music after taking a break in 2006 to focus on his acting career. It includes the two top five singles “Suit & Tie ft. Jay Z” and “Mirrors”, which was knocked off the top spot by The Saturday’s new single “What About Us” featuring Sean Paul.

Timberlake’s break from music is unparalleled by David Bowie, whose album The Next Day was his first in a decade. The album stayed at the number one spot for a week, selling 94,000 copies. Prior to The 20/20 Experience it was the fastest selling album of 2013.

Indie band Suede have also made a comeback in the album charts this week with Bloodsports, their first top 10 in almost 14 years. Emeli Sande’s Our Version of Events remained at third position and the Les Miserables soundtrack climbed six places to number four.
