Thursday's selection presents the Armory Arts Week in New York, a design exhibition in Israel and an African sculptures one in London while the Geneva Auto Show opens to the public in Switzerland, among other events.

Armory Arts Week is a celebration of contemporary and modern art that takes place in New York City from March 4 to 7. In 2010 a wealth of satellite fairs will be held concurrently to The Armory Show including the ADAA Art Show, Dutch Art Now, Fountain New York, Independent Korean Art Show, Pool, Pulse, Red Dot, SCOPE New York, Verge New York and Volta NY. In addition many New York-based galleries and local arts organisations will host special exhibitions and reduce entrance fees to coincide with the event.

Sculptures from West Africa

This exhibition showcases the art of the Kingdom of Ife in West Africa
with brass, copper, stone and terracotta sculptures at the British Museum. This powerful kingdom (in nowadays southern Nigeria) flourished as a political, spiritual, cultural and economic center in the 12th-15th centuries, and its artists produced a great number of sculpted human figures representing the entire Ife society.

The State of Things: Design and the 21st Century

The opening exhibition for the Design Museum Holon will present over one hundred products, which collectively exhibit issues of practice, consumption, and cultural impact of contemporary international design, within the celebrated building designed by Ron Arad.

Geneva Motor Show opens to the public

Geneva hosts over 700,000 visitors in 114,000 square meters of space, and is generally regarded as a must-attend show for worldwide manufacturers. Professionals and the press could visit it two days early. It offers something for everyone - last year the world's cheapest car, the Tata Nano, was on display, as was the world's most expensive, the Aston Martin One-77.
