POP / The charts
The 3 Tenors are no match for Eric Clapton (right): they are dethroned by his back-to-roots blues album which will, in turn, be knocked off by REM's Monster (released on Monday). Meanwhile, the Pet Shop Boys are in at No 6 with a critically slated album of dance remixes. And the singles chart finds Whigfield reigning with the most irritating song since Crystal Waters' 'Gypsy Woman'.
