The Princess Royal, Patron, the Home Farm Trust, visits the Rivendell Scheme at Chudleigh, Newton Abbot, Devon, and at Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot; as Patron, National Autistic Society, opens 13-15 Barnes Lane, run by the Wessex Autistic Society, Beaminster, Dorset; and, as President, the Rural Housing Trust, visits Vicarage Court and John Arlott Playground, Timberscombe, Somerset. Princess Margaret attends a Garden Party for Teachers from the Commonwealth, the United States of America and Europe at St Mary's University College, Twickenham, Middlesex.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Scots Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Irish Guards.
