For the Veer Dhara restaurant in St Albans yet further fame and renown is on the menu after it was announced that the Hollywood actor's Indian visit is to be immortalised on film.

Hollywood star Cruise was in Hertfordshire last August for the filming of All You Need Is Kill, which was shot at Leavesden Studios, when he visited the curry house in St Albans.

The Mission Impossible actor reportedly ordered lobster and chicken tikka masala when he and eight companions visited Veer Dhara.

But the star hit the headlines after he was unable to pay the bill as the restaurant didn't accept American Express. A friend settled the bill on the actor's behalf.

A film about the star's visit has now been entered into St Albans Film Festival's short-film competition.

Festival director Leoni Kibbey told the BBC: "Everyone in the film is wearing a Tom Cruise mask. It's very funny."

The film festival, which runs from the 8th to the 10th of March, is set to showcase the county's links with the history of film-making.

As well as housing Pinewood and Elstree studios nearby, film pioneer Arthur Melbourne-Cooper was born in St Albans and director Stanley Kubrick lived in the St Albans area.
