Last week House of Cards became the first television series to be screened exclusively on Netflix. But now the internet-based on-demand TV network is set to corner the kids’ market, too.

DreamWorks have signed up to make Turbo:F.A.S.T the first animated kids show to be broadcast only on Netflix.

It is set to hit computer screens in December.

“Netflix boasts one of the largest and fastest-growing audiences in kids television,” DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeff Katzenberg told Deadline.

“They pioneered a new model for TV dramas with House of Cards, and now together, we’re doing the same thing with kids’ programming.”

The television series is tied up with the release of Turbo, DreamWorks’ summer animation chalked up for distribution in cinemas from July.

The story of a snail who becomes accidentally fast enough to compete alongside racing cars in the Indianapolis 500 will be continued via the Netflix series.

Ryan Reynolds will voice the garden snail with other star appearances from Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson.

The film's synopsis is: Turbo is a snail who dreams of being the greatest racer in the world, just like his hero, 5-time Indianapolis 500 champ, Guy Gagne.

His obsession with speed and all things fast has made him an oddity and outsider in the slow and cautious snail community, and a constant embarrassment to his careful older brother, Chet.
