Show all 20The winners of this year's iPhone Photography Awards have been announced, with a stunning image of a white horse clinching first place in the Photographer of the year category.
The competition has various categories, including Stiill Life, Animals, News/Events and Travel with winners named in each one. Winning submissions included a haunting image of a girl with vivid blue eyes staring straight down the lens and a serene picture of a child sleeping.
This is the seventh year of the competition and there were thousands of submissions from across the globe. Entrants can only capture images using an iPhone or an iPod. They can use apps like Hipstamatic or Camerabag to edit their photos however programmes like Photoshop are not allowed.
The advent of the iPhone and smartphones gives everyone the opportunity to become a photographer, while apps such as Instagram allows people to edit images quickly and easily. The world of photography is rapidly changing and debates are arising as to whether images taken on mobile phones can now rival conventional cameras.
