Bill de Blasio, the liberal pragmatist who sprang from nowhere to storm the Democratic race for New York mayor, was within spitting distance of winning his party's nomination outright early. Mr de Blasio spoke to cheering supporters and reiterated his campaign message to bridge the gap between rich and poor in New York City.
