Birmingham-born John Oliver will now host a weekly comedy series on US network HBO on Sunday nights from next year.

He rose to fame as the so-called "senior British correspondent" where he poked fun at American politics from the Tea party to Fox News in The Daily Show. Watch some of his best moments below:
