The National Theatre is currently considering a successor to Sir Nicholas Hytner, who has presided over a hugely-successful decade marked by hit shows including One Man, Two Guvnors, who announced that he is to step down at the end of March 2015. Should he accept, Sir Kenneth Branagh, 52, would emulate his hero, Sir Laurence Olivier, who successfully combined British theatre’s most prestigious post with an active screen career.
