The ratings of Christmas Day surprised the audience as Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas special delivered an audience of 9.4 million to BBC1, a better rating than any other Christmas Day show.

Doctor Who special opened with a big lead but delivered an overall audience of 8.3 million.
