With the news that the release of the new James Bond film, No Time to Die, has been postponed from the end of this month to November because of fears over the coronavirus, it’s clear that the disease is causing havoc in the film industry.

Tom Cruise’s upcoming blockbuster Mission: Impossible 7 stopped production in Venice last week, following the outbreak in northern Italy.

Then the organisers of the Cannes Film Festival, which is held every May, announced that they were monitoring the situation after the confirmation of a case in the resort town. They said: “As of today, it is still premature to make any assumptions on an event scheduled in two months and a half.”
