Bottoms: The Ladies section of the "Rear of the Year" competition this year was won by Miss Melinda Messenger. The reputation of the contest was somewhat tarnished, however, by a revelation that nine out of 10 of the married female winners in the title's 21 year history had split from their husbands.
Fridge magnets: The new American edition of the Guinness Book of Records says that Ms Louise Greenfarb of Nevada has 19,300 fridge magnets, the largest such collection in the world.
Santa Claus Pub Crawl: The police in the Australian city of Newcastle have warned participants in the annual Santa Claus Pub Crawl not to include any alcoholic drinks in their sacks. Any Santa with drink in his sack will be liable to a fine of A$550 (more than pounds 200). "We have had a lot of trouble with the Santa Claus Pub Crawl in the past, with property damage, stealing of garden gnomes and defecating and urinating Santas," a police spokeswoman said. "It's been very ugly." Last year, the event attracted about 6,000 contestants
