Artful shoppers will find themselves drawn to central London this week for the Summer Festival of Contemporary Crafts. Those in need of retail therapy have a new outlet to explore from Thursday, when more than 100 textile designers, ceramicists, jewellers, furniture designers and metal and glass workers join forces at Cockpit Arts. Those taking part include jewellers Jane Adam, Catherine Hills and Yen Thi-Duong (left), textile designer Natasha Kerr and silversmith David Bromilow. And all you need to create is the time to go there.

Cockpit Arts, Cockpit Yard, Northington Street, London WC1 (0171-419 1959) 25-28 Jun, pounds 2.50
