Coca-Cola Plus Coffee No Sugar is the latest limited edition flavour to hit the shelves.

A creative bunch – think turmeric lattes and even espresso tonics – coffee lovers are ceaselessly inventing new ways of getting their caffeine fix but if you thought we’d reached peak coffee fusion, think again.

Joining a long list of exclusive tastes including Black Cherry (USA), Vanilla (UK, Canada and USA), Orange (UK, Latvia, Russia) and even Green Tea (Japan), the coffee-flavoured beverage is only available in Australia and is being released just in time for their summer.

Following the hype from Coca-Cola Ginger, which was released the same time last year, the brand hope that this new launch will follow a similar path to market.

“Australians have a love-affair with coffee so we thought why not give them more of what they want,” Coca-Cola Australia spokeswoman Lisa Winn said.

“We think it will be a great-tasting afternoon pick-me-up - like a delicious antidote to the 3pm slump.”

And at 14mg of caffeine per 100ml, it could do just the trick, with more caffeine than regular Coca-Cola (9mg) but far less than a cappuccino (43mg).

So, how does it taste?

A fresh take on the classic version, this new twist combines the traditional taste of Coke with “a dash of real coffee from Brazil” and “subtle caramel undertones.”

But, not everyone’s convinced. The flavour fusion has seemingly divided Coca-Cola fans and while some think it’s delicious others have damned it just plain "weird."

“It's a unique taste but I love coke and coffee so them together is actually pretty satisfying,” one person wrote on Instagram.

Conversely someone else added, “The concept sounds like it's attempting to ruin both coffee and coke for me.”
