Dakota Johnson reveals she is allergic to limes after previously claiming she loves them

Actress previously said she loves the fruit ‘so much’ while showing off her kitchen during house tour

Dakota Johnson has admitted that she does not like limes, and is actually allergic to them, after previously claiming that she is a big fan of the fruit.

The 31-year-old actor had initially said she loves the citrus fruit during a tour of her home for Architectural Digest in March 2020.

"I love limes, I love them. They're great. I love them so much and I like to present them like this in my house”, she said while showing the green kitchen of her Hollywood home, including counter space dedicated to a bowl full of limes.

However, in an amusing revelation during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Johnson admitted that not only does she not like limes - but she cannot eat them.

The Our Friend actress shared the admission after Fallon brought up her alleged affinity for limes, and asked her what she does with all of the fruit.

In response, Johnson said: “I'm actually allergic to limes. I'm mildly allergic to limes and honeydew melon ... limes make my tongue itch.”

As for why the limes were in her house, the 31-year-old said she hadn’t known they were in her kitchen ahead of the tour.

"I actually didn't even know they were in there,” she told Fallon. “I was giving the tour and went into the kitchen and it was set dressing.

"It was hard to just ignore them, so I just lied. I  went the full opposite direction."

The revelation prompted a range of reactions on social media, where fans were both baffled and entertained by the white lie.

“Dakota Johnson suddenly being allergic to limes is the reason I have trust issues,” one person joked.

Another said: “Man I can’t believe Dakota Johnson lied about loving limes I really feel betrayed.”

Among those expressing confusion was Architectural Digest, which tweeted from its official Twitter account: “This is honestly one of our favorite home tours, because we love green kitchens and limes and Dakota loves green kitchens and limes. We think? Now we're confused.”

However, others felt the lie made Johnson even more likeable, with one person writing: “It's actually significantly cooler that Dakota Johnson sort of panicked over the limes being strewn about and just told a flat out lie. I love her.”
