Danielle Steel’s has caused a stir on Twitter after revealing a number of shocking revelations about her eccentric personal life.

The 71-year-old best-selling author has written a total of 179 books, including The Duchess and Turning Points, all of which have been translated into 43 languages.

Even today, Steel, who has nine children and whose wealth is estimated at $350m (£268), still manages to produce seven books every year.

What’s more, 22 of them have been adapted for television, two of which have received Golden Globe nominations.

But, just how does she do it?

According to a recent interview with Glamour, she achieves the mammoth task by working 20 hours a day and living on a diet of toast and miniature chocolate bars.

The authors impressive work ethic led to many people sharing their shock and disbelief on Twitter.

“This profile of Danielle Steel is so wild and makes me feel like a I'm a sentient bag of skin and air,” one person wrote.

Another added: “Danielle Steel has written 179 books, has nine children, and doesn't drink coffee. My jaw is on the floor.”

A third person commented: “Her output is also the result of a near superhuman ability to run on little sleep.”

Others were obsessed with the description of the author’s desk which is fashioned from three giant replicas of her own books.

“Lord grant me the courage and prolificacy to have an office desk like Danielle Steel's,” one person wrote on Twitter.

A second commented: “I just saw a picture of Danielle Steel's desk and honestly I would expect nothing less from her. It's the most Danielle Steel thing I've seen.”

While a third added: “Danielle Steel has a desk made of enormous copies of her own books, nothing has ever been more BDE.”

The fascination with Steel’s life continued, with Twitter users sharing their surprise at the fact the author still uses a typewriter, which she’s nicknamed Olly.

“Danielle Steel has written 179 books, all of them ON A TYPEWRITER,” one person tweeted.

Another added: “You guys just know that it probably helps that Danielle Steel still works on a typewriter (no internet) and 100% does not f*** around on Twitter (like me)."

Other revelations that came from the profile of the author include that she gave up caffeine 25 years ago, owns 6,000 pairs of Christian Louboutin heels and is a huge fan of hit BBC series The Bodyguard.
