Demi Lovato has described the moment she first came out to her parents as “sexually fluid ”.
On Thursday, the “Confident” singer shared her coming out story with Andy Cohen on the Radio Andy SiriusXM show .
When asked about recent comments she made about being open to starting a family with a man or a woman, Lovato said she was “still figuring it out”.
“I didn't officially tell my parents that I saw myself ending up possibly with a woman until 2017,” Lovato explained.
"It was actually emotional, but really beautiful. After everything was done, I was like shaking and crying. I just felt overwhelmed. I have such incredible parents. They were so supportive."

And so when I hear about negative and false attacks, I really don’t invest any energy in them, because I know who I am.”

The 27-year-old said her father was not at all surprised by her admission and recalled some of the lyrics included in her hit song "Cool for the Summer" such as “I'mma little curious too” [sic].
The former Disney star added that while she was the most nervous to open up to her mother about her sexuality, she was pleasantly surprised by her reaction.
“She was like, ‘I just want you to be happy.' And that was so beautiful and amazing. I'm so grateful,” Lovato said.
On exploring the possibilities of motherhood , the singer added that she is keeping her options open.
“I don't know what my future looks like. I don't know if I'm going to have kids this year or in 10 years,” she said.
“I don't know if I'm going to do it with a partner or without, because women don't need partners. Amen!"
Lovato is set to perform the national anthem on Super Bowl Sunday , which will mark her second major performance since debuting comeback single “Anyone” at the Grammy Awards last week.
The singer previously revealed that the song was a “cry for help” which she wrote before a near-fatal overdose at her home in 2018 .
Lovato became overwhelmed and tearful at the beginning of the song and started again, eventually earning a standing ovation from the crowd.
