As soon as American golfer Brandt Snedeker hit his approach on the par-four 18th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the look on his face showed he knew he was in trouble.

With the front of the green protected by a rather large lake, a watery grave looked to be the destiny of his ball and a bad end to a promising opening round at the Bay Hill Course in Orlando, Florida.

However, Snedeker had forgotten that Lady Luck was staring down on him. His ball pitched short of the green, but just long enough to hit the rocks separating it from the water.

It then cannoned high up into the air, and Sndeker must have thought it would find the hazard this time. Wrong again. Unbelievably, the ball bounced off another rock, launched back into the air and finally made its way onto the green, coming to a halt just six feet from the hole.

After taking a box to the crowds’ applause, Snedeker made his way to the green to knock it in to save par and card an impressive three under par – good enough to tie for second place to head into day two a couple of shots behind leader Jason Kokrak.
