Ed Sheeran confirms marriage to Cherry Seaborn
Couple has been together since 2015
Ed Sheeran has confirmed he is married to childhood sweetheart Cherry Seaborn following months of speculation.
On Friday, the British singer revealed the news in a YouTube interview with American radio presenter Charlamagne Tha God to mark the release of Sheeran’s new album No 6 Collaborations Project.
During the interview, the presenter asked the "Perfect" singer about the lyrics in his song “Remember the Name” featuring Eminem and 50 Cent, in which he sings: “Watch how the lyrics in this song might get twisted / My wife wears red but looks better without the lipstick.”
“It was actually before me and Cherry got married and I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out," the 28-year-old said.
“[I thought] Someone’s gonna hear that and be like: ‘Oh, they’re married!’ I didn’t know how that would be construed, but obviously it’s already come out.”
Speculation regarding the couple's marriage first came to light in February 2019, when it was reported that Sheeran and Seaborn had tied the knot in December at their home in Suffolk, England.
Later in the interview, Sheeran opened up about his love for his wife and his constant disbelief that she chose to be with him despite “all of the things that I think are wrong with me”.
Discussing the song “Best Part of Me” featuring YEBBA, the singer said: “I constantly wake up every day with Cherry and I’m just like ‘Why the f*** are you with me? You could literally be with whoever you want and you’ve chosen me…’ I just find that amazing.”

Show all 12In January 2018, the singer and Seaborn, who met at school when they were 11, announced their engagement on Instagram after three years of dating.
Shortly after, it was rumoured the pair had already tied the knot when Sheeran was spotted wearing a ring on his ring finger in February 2018, which he later explained was actually his own engagement ring.
“It’s an engagement ring, cause I feel like it’s good to both do things,” the singer had said of the significant piece of jewellery made by his fiancée.
