Over the next six weeks, the Women In Tradition concert series is seeking to highlight the fundamental role of women in traditional world music. Before the series moves on to illustrate the female influence on the musical cultures of Ireland, Zimbabwe, Algeria, India and Spain, the Catalan singer Rosa Zaragoza will open Women In Tradition by singing extracts from the five remaining manuscripts of the Catalonian Sephardic Jews as well as examples of ancient Mediterranean vocal music. Purcell Room, South Bank, London, pounds 10-15 (0171-960 4242).

Hendon Park, Queen's Road, Hendon. Ringside : pounds 10, children pounds 8; Grandstand: pounds 8, children pounds 6; Side: pounds 5.50, children pounds 3.50 (07050 121 416/131 517).

Phillips, 10 Salem Road, Bayswater, London, 12 noon.
