Fashion designer Alexander Wang has revealed that he’s going to be partnering with high street retailer Uniqlo on a new collection of underwear.

The launch of the underwear line will mark 10 years since the last collaboration between Wang and the Japanese brand.

The range will include a variety of items, including bras, briefs, leggings and bodysuits in an array of neutral colours.

Speaking to Vogue, Wang explains how they used Heattech, a material developed by Uniqlo and textile maker Toray, to create underwear that would provide warmth and comfort.

“We thought this could be a great concept where we think about how to marry the two ideas: Heattech and underwear,” he says.

“Heattech is a programme created out of innovation, function, and utility. It’s something that I’ve always been very inspired by, by the advancement and innovation in fabrication.”

On Wednesday, Wang shared the news of the collaboration with his 4.5 million followers on Instagram, with many of them expressing their excitement over the partnership.

“My Wang addiction is about to go next level,” one person wrote.

“Such a huge fan of both! I cannot wait!” another person commented.

The clothes in the collection, which is going to launched later this autumn, will be priced between $15 and $40 (£11 and £30).

Earlier this year, it was announced that Roger Federer had signed a deal with Uniqlo for the brand to become his new official sponsor.

The news caused quite a stir considering the 10-year partnership that the 20-time Grand Slam winner had previously had with Nike.

In September, Wang revealed that he'd struck up an usual alliance with Pepsi Black to create a limited-edition can of the fizzy drink.

The can was made available exclusively for consumers in China.
