It’s the colour that will soon be on everyone’s lips – literally. The cooler, younger sister of classic crimson, fuchsia lipstick packs some serious punch and nothing quite screams spring like a cheerful pop of pink.

Typically the reserve of high-glam 80s icons, the bright purple-y pink hue popped up on the spring/summer runways in many variations.

The most subtle of which came courtesy of make-up artist Tom Pechuex for Chanel where, pink-toned beauty looks saw bold coral lipstick matched to blush that reached the temples and brows.

From here on in though, things got decidedly bolder. For Trussardi, magenta lips complimented an already vivid collection that saw shades of pink, red and purple cordially clash.

While at Mary Katrantzou, bold colours and psychedelic prints were intensified with fluoro-bright lipstick in one of three shades – hot pink, orange-red and scarlet.

But, perhaps the most inspiring take came from Cushnie et Och where model’s top lips were coloured with MAC Lip Pencil in Cherry and the bottom with Process Magenta.

Taking this look into the real-world isn’t as intimidating as it might first appear because when your lipstick is as bright as this, you don’t need much else to complete the look.

So keep the rest of your make-up fairly natural and sweep your hair back so not to take away from the impact of this serious bold lip.
