The countdown to Christmas has officially begun, but if your shopping list is filling you with dread fear not, because we’re here to help.

Whether it’s your mum, sister, partner or friend, the pressure is mounting to find the perfect gifts for your loved ones – there are many options to consider and little time left to buy.

What does she really want? Has she already got it? What colour would she prefer?

Luckily we’ve done all the hard work for you and put together a horde of goodies under £50 that will guarantee to put a smile on her face.

Lancome, La Vie est Belle, £49, Selfridges

You’ll be hard pushed to find a woman that doesn’t love unboxing a new fragrance on Christmas day but the problem here is that they can be quite costly. The solution? Opt for an eau de toilette instead.

Our favourite for a scent that suits all is Lancome’s La Vie est Belle – a feminine fragrance that includes notes of magnolia essence, iris pallida, patchouli essence and delicate gourmand for a light, floral whiff that lasts all day.

Cashmere Scarf, £39.99, H&M

While a scarf might seem like a dull present, to those who love a little luxury one made from cashmere is anything but. Ideal for women with a timeless sense of style, this one from high-street store H&M is premium quality but at an affordable price. So, while it might look super-expensive, it actually promises to be pretty kind on your purse strings.

Made in a soft cashmere knit, it has a subtle, ribbed edge and comes in camel, black and pink.

Zodiac Brush Set, £49.99, Spectrum

For make-up and horoscope fans alike this luxury set of brushes makes for the ultimate Christmas gift. Featuring eight expert brushes, the Zodiac set comes packaged in a beautiful velvet pouch finished with the fire, water, air or earth sign.

A vegan and cruelty free brand, each bag contains the following brushes – luxe powder, angled foundation, angled blush/contour, magic wand for highlighting and setting, luxe crease blender, oval concealer, fluffy pencil and angled brow.

2018 Panama Diary, £35, Smythson

The perfect gift for busy ladies, a diary is one of those indispensable items, but that doesn’t mean it should lack in the style department. Smythson is one of those brands you can always rely on to deliver but its more substantial items can carry a hefty price tag.

Luckily though, its 2018 Panama Diary is well within budget. Made from cross-grain leather, it has a week-to-view layout, runs from 20 November 2017 to 27 January 2019, and comes with gilt-edge paper.

Suede Crossbody Bag with Gold Chain, £39.99, Zara

The ideal gift for any bag lover, this nifty cross-body nails the mini-bag trend. Made from sumptuous suede, it has a lined interior, gold chain-link shoulder strap and various compartments for housing all daily essentials.

It also just so happens to be this season’s colour to be seen in, with red spotted all over the autumn/winter runways.

No 22, Woodstove Scented Candle, £40, Net-a-Porter

You can’t go wrong with a candle and this one from No 22 – a luxury British brand founded by beauty director of Elle magazine Sophie Beresiner – ticks all the boxes.

The packaging alone is lustworthy, housed in a white ceramic vessel detailed with the brand’s signature cable-knit motif, while the candle itself is deliciously addictive. Infused with oil from palo santo trees, vanilla, cedar and cinnamon, it floods any room with a rich, smoky scent.

Emily Jeffords Monogram Trinket Dish, £12, Anthropologie

Jewellery can be a difficult gift to get right, especially for under £50, but there are other ways to satisfy the magpie in your life.

Somewhere to keep her most cherished pieces, this trinket dish from Anthropologie will make a welcome addition to any dressing table. Designed by Emily Jeffords, an abstract-impressionist artist, the detail is inspired by nature, poetry and travel while picking out one with the recipient’s initials adds a sentimental touch.

Velvet Cosmetic Bag, £15, Oliver Bonas

Make-up lovers can be tricky to buy for if you don’t know much about the world of beauty so gifting a place for them to stash their must-haves is a great alternative.

We love this deep-navy number from Oliver Bonas which is made from luxurious velvet and accentuated by a gold embroidered design on the front. With one main compartment and a zip fastening this cosmetic bag is large enough to hold all her essentials.
