What are you wearing right now?

A half-fluffy, half-lacy jumper from Beyond Retro, jeans by Alexander Wang and shoes from Peacocks.

Who is your style icon?

My style icons are my models. I'm so lucky to be constantly around the most inspiring girls. If I had to choose someone from history it would be Brigitte Bardot. I like women who are still aware of their sexuality, as I think it's a beautiful and positive thing.

What can't you live without?

Bolongaro Trevor and Bentalls tights department.

Describe the best outfit you have ever worn...

My Dries Van Noten wedding dress.

What's in your wardrobe?

I don't have a wardrobe, just clothes rails which are full of stuff I've hoarded over the years.

What's in your make-up bag?

The full new Dolce & Gabbana range, which is just so good – especially the blusher and the black/gold eyeliner.

If you could live in any decade, style-wise which would it be?

I'd love to live in the Fifties and dress like Sophia Loren or Brigitte Bardot, with nipped- in waists, pointy boobs and hair "do"s. Lots of glamour and sensuality.

Any fashion confessions you want to share with us?

I get a perverse pleasure from looking completely unfashionable when I'm in the house, wearing mismatching but very comfortable odd things, giant fluffy slippers, spectacles with no-make up and my hair scraped back. I'd like to think that no-one would ever guess that I earn my living in fashion.

How often do you look in the mirror?

I look once in the morning to try to make sense of the pale blur that is my face with some make-up, and then once at the end of the day when the make-up has worn off and the pale blur returns. Then I put on my Olive from "On the Buses" spectacles.

What's your secret style tip?

Buy long vintage dresses and make them into minis and you'll find a wealth of incredible designs which can be easily transformed into Balmain-style frocks. Look for Eighties stuff with shoulder pads and alter them to be super-mini.

Sarah Leon is the director of bookings at Next models, representing Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung, Alice Dellal and Portia Freeman, among others
