The heatwave might be over, well at least on these shores, but the humid weather is here to stay and our hair doesn’t like it.

With summer parties and weddings in the diary, as well as sunny hols, you might be wondering what do to avoid heat frazzled, frizzy hair. So we’ve rounded-up easy hairstyles that will keep you looking cool during the heat.

Inspired by the catwalk and the red carpet, this season’s hair trends involve waves – whether you’re hair up or down.

For summer we suggest four key hair trends: pony tails, messy braids, buns and beach waves.

Good news is you can recreate them at home without the hassle (and budget) of an appointment at the hairdresser, all given you have the right tools of course. So we think a worthy investment is a curler; we tried Toni & Guy’s Glamour Jumbo Tong for only £25, and if you can stretch your budget T3’s Bodywaver (£125) and Babyliss have a high-technology system to create the waves.

As seen on Keira Knightley and Joanne Froggatt at the Golden Globes, messy braids will embrace the current bohemian trend. Keash Braids at Urban Outfitters can get you festival ready with one of their 12 signature styles and provide some fun ideas for you to try at home, (and if you’re keen, you could add rings and charms).

Emma Stone and Amy Adams are big fans of the humble pony tail, and you too can recreate the look by adding some movement to your locks and achieve a glam, yet casual look – whip your hair up, separate it into sections and curl them to create some waves.

Messy buns always come to the rescue. This style is super easy and will keep you cool, we used the curler to add volume before creating the topknot, then we applied hairspray from a distance for an extra hold (just a couple of spritz).

Beach waves are of course a classic and a winning style if you’re jetting off to the sunny shores – just create few curls and spray a texturising product to hold them in a very natural way, run your fingers through the curls for that effortless feel.

Get playing with your hair and take control of the frizz in minutes with style.
