The hair

Rebecca Gonsalves: The pixie may be the cut of the moment, but this cropped-and-curly style is so much more interesting.

Hugh Montgomery: An awards sweep that deserves applause.

The suit

Rebecca: It's slightly odd that trousers are still a controversial choice for the red carpet – especially when they look this good. The pewter shade is suitably ritzy but not too glitzy.

Hugh: Marlene Dietrich meets David Bowie: now, how's that for a combo?

The cummerbund

Rebecca: This cummerbund-cum-apron not only adds an interesting detail, it enables discreet trouser-button undoing if the fancy dinner is too filling.

Hugh: Surplus to requirements… we love it.

The shoes

Rebecca: The ankle straps don't seem necessary, especially with this trouser length, but the scarlet shade and pointed toe are spot on.

Hugh: Altogether, it's like a red-carpet outfit on Red Bull. In the best way, that is.
