Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez brought star power to the Biden-Harris inauguration ceremony, with both performers keeping with the fashion icon theme.
On Wednesday, Lady Gaga took to the stage at the Capitol to sing the national anthem ahead of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ swearing-in.
For the occasion, the popstar chose a Schiaparelli Haute Couture outfit by Daniel Roseberry, which featured a red, full-length ball gown skirt and a navy top.
The unique look was completed with an oversized gold dove brooch, a braided updo, and a golden microphone.
On social media, the Chromatica singer’s look almost immediately prompted comparisons to The Hunger Games, with many suggesting the outfits featured in the movies served as Lady Gaga’s inspiration.
“Congrats to Lady Gaga’s dress on its success in The Hunger Games,” one person tweeted.
Another said: “Lady Gaga serving some Hunger Games symbolism is exactly what I needed today.”
“Huge Hunger Games energy from Lady Gaga,” someone else wrote on Twitter.
For Lopez’s performance, which saw the singer perform a medley of patriotic songs including This Land Is Your Land and America the Beautiful, she opted for an equally unique outfit of all-white.
While performing at the inauguration, Lopez wore a white high-neck silk ruffled blouse, white sequined pants, and a white ankle-length tweed coat, all reportedly by Chanel.
The 51-year-old paired the look with layered belts, multiple pearl bracelets and earrings, which were also by Chanel, according to Fashionista, as well as a white cap and white gloves.
The reactions to Lopez’s outfit were overwhelmingly positive on social media, where viewers praised the singer’s look and her performance.
“Jennifer Lopez looks amazing. I love her entire outfit,” one person tweeted.
Another said: “Jennifer Lopez's outfit and voice are giving us immaculate vibes.”
Others were infatuated with Lopez’s engagement ring, with one person suggesting the ring should come with its own security detail.
“[To be honest] the engagement ring took the show @JLo,” one tweet read, while another person wrote: “Can we talk about the size of @JLo ring?! Wow…”
In addition to Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez’s outfits, other memorable fashion moments from Inauguration Day included a sea of purple and Dr Jill Biden and Ms Harris’ decision to feature American designers.
