She might be the daughter of one of the most famous supermodels on the planet, but Lila Grace Moss has managed to remain largely out of the limelight - until now.

After years of avoiding paparazzi and being deemed relatively camera-shy, the 16-year-old daughter of Kate Moss has officially made her modelling debut, landing her first major campaign after being signed to her mother's eponymous modelling agency.

Lila, whose father is Jefferson Hack, CEO of Dazed Media, has been chosen as the new face for Marc Jacobs Beauty in a UK campaign launched in collaboration with Harvey Nichols.

The New York-based designer has been a close family friend for years and first met Lila in 2008.

“I was on a holiday in Ibiza and went to Formentera for the day to visit with her mum,” he recalls.

“At just six years old, Lila’s strong character, demeanour and great beauty was already very apparent.”

Jacobs added that he taken aback by the teen’s beauty at Moss’s wedding to Jamie Hince in 2011, but it wasn't until last summer, when Lila accompanied her mother to a Marc Jacobs Beauty photoshoot, that he decided to cast her in a standalone campaign.

“It was a bit surreal to have Kate in the studio with Lila as it brought back memories of the first time I met Kate when she was 18 years old,” he said, adding that the two became very close friends shortly after.

“When Lila came to NYC to work with us in july to be the face of our latest beauty campaign, it felt a bit like an intersection of my personal and professional life coming full circle.

“Lila’s beauty, composure, patience and kindness made this project even more special than I could have imagined.

“With each look we photographed, she got into each character effortlessly and gracefully.”

Lila announced the campaign, which was photographed by David Sims and styled by LOVE editor Katie Grand, on Instagram, describing it as “an honour”.

Despite having only just joined the photo-sharing platform, the teenage model has already garnered more than 10,000 followers.

It might be Lila’s first major campaign, but it’s not actually the first time she has dipped her toes into the modelling world.

In May 2017, the then 14-year-old posed for hairstyling brand, The Braid Bar, in which she is photographed with tight braids woven into her hair.

However, the campaign came under fire for failing to cast a diverse range of models.

One year previously, Lila posed alongside her mother for Italian Vogue in a set of images shot by Moss’s former boyfriend photographer Mario Sorrenti.

She may only be in the infant stages of her career, but it already looks like the young model is set for a stratospheric career.
