Even if you're not a gambling man it'd be safe to wager that denim, in all its many guises, has a not insignificant part to play in wardrobes throughout the land.

Whether it be a pair of jeans, a chambray shirt or the eminently versatile denim jacket, it's almost impossible to escape this now ubiquitous fabric.

And although its popularity may occasionally wax and wane it still never loses its pull entirely.

In fact this timeless fabric is always ripe for reinvention and whether it be the colour, texture or cut, it never fails to finds its way back into vogue.

Right now if you're the type of man that generally likes to take his denim on the dark side then it's time to lighten up a little; most forward thinking denim aficionados are now looking backwards to the 90's where pale blue washed out denim was de rigueur.

And it's not only the colour that has changed but the shape too. Thankfully the skinny jean has been laid to rest and replaced instead with a much looser roomier style.

You might also want to consider getting creative with any purchases you make.

Embroidery and sewn on patches have a part to play in giving this new denim a home-spun make do and mend quality.

However, the Italian brand Gucci are selling their embroidered jeans with an eye-wateringly high price tag attached, so you might want to enrol on a needlepoint course and attempt to embellish your denim yourself.
